Heavy Handbags and Health

Having a super-sized bag to place your lunch, purse, phone, address book, diary, or make-up may be something that you do when rushing for work every day. Sometimes, you might not even notice that you have put everything in except for the sink. However, no matter how much you would like to have everything you need in your purse, it is simply not good for your health. In fact, your body itself would give you a few hints.

Although models may strut accessories that probably weigh heavier than they do, you do not have to believe it is also perfectly okay for you to do so. Unlike them, you do not have to suffer for the sake of fashion. The fact is—carrying a hefty load could result in nerve and muscle damage that would take years to correct. In fact, chiropractors have noticed a significant increase in the number of people getting handbag-related injuries. Studies have found out that modern women carry bags that are twice as heavy as the ones their mothers used to carry. With all the fashionable blings, chains, and zips, it is no surprise how hefty these pieces are.

But more than the risk of getting injuries while carrying heavy handbags, a greater cause for concern is the cumulative effect it could trigger over time. It may look cool, but it could also lead to back pains and neck injuries from stretched nerves. Your stance could also shift your structure and make it lop-sided. It likewise puts more strain on the body as it is further leaning away from its centre of gravity.

Indeed, carrying all your belongings in your bag could be dangerous to your health. Ending up with aches, pains, and serious damage is a huge price to pay for looking stylish.
